Abstract: The scope of this diploma thesis is the development of a application that focuses onsocial networking, on sharing of geographical data and aims to provide to the user ageographical news feed that derives from the activities of his social peers.Specifically, we developed a mashup Google Android application. The applicationcommunicates with the existing social network of facebook and aquires data from itsservers. In addittion, the application communicates with Google Maps and offers us a mapdisplay. The connecting link between the the map and the social network is our own serverthat stores the geographical locations of our social peers and aims to project them on themap. Furthermore, the application projects on the map several user-defined locations.Finally, the users can communicate using telephone services.Special attention is given to the construction of a geographical news feed. The newsstem from our peers' activities and are connected with the landmarks that our social grouphas established. The final aim is to attract potential location-specific advertisements. Thiscan be achieved by adding the advertised location to our social landmarks.
